Certification Process

The IALEIA Professional Certification Program is rooted in professionalism and guided by national standards.

The IALEIA Professional Certification Program is rooted in the concepts of professionalism as set forth by the SCCA and guided by the NCISP recommendations and the Law Enforcement Analyst Certification Standards for certification organizations. These guidance documents recommend a combination of work experience and professional training should be required to become a professional analyst.

Any individual who is an IALEIA Regular Individual member in good standing may enter the Professional Certification Program. Once a classification or certification has been awarded, the recipient is required to remain an IALEIA member in good standing to maintain their status active.

Three-Tier Process

Tier 1

Basic Analyst Classification

Entry-level classification for IALEIA members beginning their certification journey. Establishes foundational competencies in intelligence analysis.

Most Popular

Tier 2 — CICA

Criminal Intelligence Certified Analyst

The primary professional certification demonstrating advanced analytical competency. Valid for five (5) years with recertification required. Members are strongly encouraged to pursue this tier.

Tier 3

Lifetime Criminal Intelligence Certified Analyst

The highest tier of certification recognizing sustained excellence and long-term commitment to the profession of intelligence analysis.
